She was born to make you laugh. And somewhere along the way, God called her to do it for a living.
Lady Q is not just a comedienne. She is a hostess, a storyteller, and a woman who has learned that sometimes the most powerful thing you can do in the middle of a storm is laugh. She believes that God gave her a gift, and she is not afraid to use it.
She has traveled across the country, making audiences laugh until they cry. She has hosted events where the Holy Spirit showed up right in the middle of a joke. And she has written a book called “Laughing Out of the Pews” because she knows that church people need to laugh, too.
Now, she is bringing all of that to the Beauty From Ashes Conference. She is coming to Tampa to host the comedy show, to welcome women from around the world, and to remind you that joy is not just for Sunday morning.
Lady Q did not wake up one day and decide to be a comedian. It happened the way most good things do, slowly, unexpectedly, and through a whole lot of life.
She grew up in the church. She learned early that laughter could break tension, heal hurt, and bring people together. She also learned that some of the funniest moments happen when you least expect them, like when online church became a thing, and suddenly everyone was a camera operator.
She says:
“Before COVID, people were doing all kinds of things online. They weren’t even prepared. I remember when the church went online. People used to think Facebook was the devil. But when COVID came, all them folk went to Facebook live trying to do their little church service.”
That is Lady Q. She finds the funny in the frustration. She tells the truth with a smile. And she makes you feel like you are not alone in the struggle.

You will laugh. Hard. The kind of laugh that makes your stomach hurt and your eyes water. But you will also feel something else. You will feel seen.
Lady Q talks about real life. She talks about menopause, about getting dressed for online church, about the struggle of finding a good pair of pantyhose. She talks about the Holy Spirit wrecking her makeup right before she has to go on stage. She talks about the things that make you shake your head and say, “Only God.”
And somewhere in between the jokes, she will remind you that God has not forgotten you. That joy is still possible. That laughter is a weapon.
She says:
“Laughter is healing. That is my purpose and my passion.”
Lady Q wrote “Laughing Out of the Pews” because she realized that too many people were taking church too seriously. Not the holy kind of serious. The stiff, uncomfortable, can’t-laugh kind of serious.
Her book is an invitation to loosen up, to find the humor in your faith, and to remember that God gave you a sense of humor for a reason.
Whether you are a lifelong churchgoer or you are just finding your way, this book will make you laugh, make you think, and remind you that it is okay to smile in the sanctuary.
